Greetings, Family!

A Family Built on Volunteer Power

ITSMF, the thriving organization you know and engage with, has a remarkable origin story. Twenty-eight years ago, it was founded not by corporate giants, but by fourteen dedicated volunteers. These were not just volunteers – they were C-level executives, juggling demanding careers with the weight of expectation that comes with being firsts or only Black C-level leaders, all while managing family lives. Their unwavering commitment then continues to inspire us today, as many of these founding members remain active volunteers.

At ITSMF, member engagement is more than a value – it is the essence of our success. Our members form the heart of our ITSMF family. They play a pivotal role in recruiting new members, donating their professional expertise (saving the organization crucial funds!), and providing strategic guidance. They leverage their connections to cultivate vital donor relationships, partnerships, and alliances.

It is no surprise that two of our longest-tenured staff members began their ITSMF journeys as volunteers.

About Information Technology Senior Management Forum

Since 1996, Information Technology Senior Management Forum (ITSMF) has been dedicated to increasing the representation of Black professionals at senior levels in technology to impact organizational innovation and growth. We do this by developing and nurturing these dynamic leaders through enrichment of the mind, body and soul. At its inception, only 3% of senior-level positions in the technology industry were held by Blacks. With a half-million new computer-related jobs expected by 2028, ITSMF is committed to increasing the number of qualified Black professionals for these positions.
