ITSMF President’s Message March 2024

March 29, 2024 |

Greetings, Family!

I am still basking in the glow of ITSMF’s powerful sold-out Spring symposium with over 500 attendees. I am still excited about the new AI tools we learned, the 3rd Bridging Innovation Pitch Competition, and the eighteen awards and $75,0000 in scholarships at this year’s 3rd Annual Technology Leaders Awards Ceremony and Gala. And the gifts for the ITSMF Foundation keep coming in. We are at $170,000 and counting in Foundation gifts.

The EMERGE, Elevate, and IGNITE Forums were as inspiring as ever. Our CISO and CxO Forums continue to grow, and it is exciting to join a room overflowing with CxO Forum’s elbow-to-elbow sharing the stories that keep us going.

We have daunting challenges ahead of us with the increasing fear of reverse discrimination claims causing some corporations to question their commitments to investing resources into diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The good news is that we have been the go-to convener of the best of the best leadership talent in technology since 1996 and we continue to be. Those forward-thinking organizations committed to developing and investing in their leadership bench to grow the future of their organizations will remain committed to the mission of ITSMF.

We are all bell ringers!

As I listen to S&P 500 CEOs talk about the most pressing topics of the day:

  1. Climate Change
  2. AI and its disruption of everything from medical treatment to consumer spending to equity and inclusion
  3. Inflation
  4. Stock prices
  5. Cyber security
  6. The future of corporate DEI Programs
  7. Earnings report releases
  8. Jobs reports

I scan my LinkedIn and see the ITSMF community on panels, in publications, and on stage after stage. What struck me is that the thought leaders, the geniuses, and the leaders charged with executing the digital and business strategy on every hot topic I mentioned are ITSMF members.

We are ringing the bell for business and technological growth and innovation. For those looking to develop, attract, or retain the best of the best leaders to multiply capabilities in their large enterprise, this is where you come.

Our mission is resonating, and it is now more important than ever.

  • 299 people attended our first State of the CommUNITY address.
  • We were invited to Ring the Bell at NASDAQ. Seventy-five leaders representing our Board, management team, members, founders, fellows, and corporate partners joined us and over 7600 people engaged with us on LinkedIn.
  • In the last four months, we’ve generated $3MM in corporate partnership commitments for membership, academies, symposia, and deeper support for the development of Leaders of Color and initiatives that create cultural impact.
  • Our Vibranium partnership with State Farm, the host sponsor of S1 has increased our momentum and elevated us to new levels of commitment and action toward building the C-level leadership talent needed within Corporate America.

Thank you for ringing the Bell!

Our fall symposium will be held in St. Louis, October 31 – November 2, 2024.

Our next in person event is a Regional Networking Event sponsored by Accenture in Philadelphia on April 25.

I hope to see you there! Let’s keep ringing the Bell.

With warmest regards,

President and CEO, ITSMF

About Information Technology Senior Management Forum

Since 1996, Information Technology Senior Management Forum (ITSMF) has been dedicated to increasing the representation of Black professionals at senior levels in technology to impact organizational innovation and growth. We do this by developing and nurturing these dynamic leaders through enrichment of the mind, body and soul. At its inception, only 3% of senior-level positions in the technology industry were held by Blacks. With a half-million new computer-related jobs expected by 2028, ITSMF is committed to increasing the number of qualified Black professionals for these positions.
