ITSMF President’s Message January 2024

ITSMF |
February 1, 2024 |

Greetings, Family!

As we have bid farewell to 2023 and stand on the precipice of a new year, I am filled with immense pride and deep gratitude for your unwavering support and partnership. Together, we have not only navigated the ever-changing landscape of the tech world, but we have carved our names in bold letters as changemakers and impact-driven leaders.

This year, 170 brilliant minds graduated from the Leaders of Color Program thanks to the incredible support of State Farm, Wells Fargo, PepsiCo, and Capital One. We expanded our CISO programming, ensuring the security landscape has diverse heroes at the helm. We earned the trust of the White House, contributing to the National Cyber Security Workforce Development Strategy. These moments are testaments to our unwavering commitment to building a more inclusive and thriving tech ecosystem.

Onwards, we marched! We welcomed 100 visionary leaders into the ITSMF fold, proving the power of our mission and your commitment to making a difference. We shattered attendance records with two sold-out symposiums, and your high customer satisfaction scores resonate deeply. The Global Institute for Professional Development saw nearly 180 leaders hone their skills, igniting their journeys to the top.

In a groundbreaking initiative, we launched the Board Bound Academy, paving the way for diverse voices to shape the future of corporations and communities. The IGNITE Academy for Entrepreneurs ignited a spark of innovation and empowered rising stars to turn their dreams into reality. And, through your immense generosity, we raised an astounding $250,000 for the ITSMF Foundation, fueling our mission to empower future generations of tech leaders.

Looking back, I see not just numbers and milestones, but stories of transformation, moments of courage, and the collective spirit of a family rising to the occasion. Your dedication, your passion, and your unwavering belief in our shared vision are what truly define ITSMF. Every time I receive an email, text, or call about a member of the family, a Global Institute for Professional Development graduate, or ITSMF member who received a promotion, launched or expanded their own business, joined a Board, or received much-deserved recognition or accolades,  my heart leaps!

The mission to advance Black representation and leadership in tech has never been more critical. As the tech landscape evolves, the need for diverse voices, innovative minds, and leaders who champion inclusion becomes ever more vital. Together, we must continue to break barriers, shatter ceilings, and rewrite the narrative of who belongs in the driver’s seat of this revolution.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Thank you for being the wind beneath our wings, the light in our path, and the unwavering force propelling us toward a brighter, more equitable future in tech.

Onward to 2024, my family! Our theme for 2024 is “Forward Progress: Tenacity, Passion and Momentum”. Let’s make it a year where our impact reverberates even further, and our collective dreams take flight.

Happy New Year, and may the new year be filled with prosperity, purpose, and unwavering Black excellence.

I cannot wait to see you all at ITSMF’s S1 Symposium, March 14-16, 2024, in Atlanta, GA. Special thanks to State Farm, our host sponsor.

With warmest regards,

President and CEO, ITSMF
